The Board of Trustees of Princeton Pro Musica (PPM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ryan James Brandau as its new artistic director, effective with the 2012-2013 season. Dr. Brandau was selected after a rigorous 12-month international search to replace retiring artistic director and founder Frances Fowler Slade. The Board voted unanimously and enthusiastically to confirm Dr. Brandau’s appointment.

Princeton Public Library will stay open till 9 p.m. on Fridays beginning June 1, Executive Director Leslie Burger announced today. The library usually closes at 6 p.m. on Fridays

Burger said the extended hours were the result of community requests and were made possible by private gifts to the Princeton Public Library Foundation.

On Wednesday, April 18 2012 at approximately 2:00 pm, Ofc. Craig Humble conducted a motor vehicle stop on a Mitsubishi Galant for a motor vehicle violation on Mercer St. During the course of the stop it was determined that the operator of the vehicle, Christian Castro-Pagan, had an outstanding warrant out of the Ewing Township Municipal Court for his arrest . Mr. Castro-Pagan was subsequently taken into custody and was later released after posting bail.

Princeton PublicLibrary is accepting original film submissions for the 2012 Princeton Student Film & Video Festival being held July 18-19. The student filmmakers will be invited to introduce and talk about their works during the ninth annual festival, a popular two-day event intended for teen and adult audiences.
Librarian Susan Conlon, who coordinates the festival each year, is working with a screeningcommittee to review all films. Deadline for submission is June 25.

On Tuesday, April 17, 2012, Equal Pay Day, thousands of women across this country will join in a national day of action against unfair pay. April is a symbolic month beyond equal pay. It is the point in the new year that a woman must work in order to earn the wages paid to her male counterpart in the previous year.

On Thursday, April 12th, 2012 at approximately 7:47 PM, Ptl. Michael Strobel conducted a motor vehicle stop on State Road during which it was revealed that the driver, Juan Vargas, had active criminal and traffic warrants totaling $449.00 out of Jersey City, NJ. Ptl. Strobel placed Vargas under arrest and transported him to the Princeton Township Police Department, where he was processed and subsequently turned over to the Jersey City Police Department. Vargas was issued motor vehicle summonses for Unclear Plates and Failure to Inspect.
