An exhibition of works by artist Vittorio Sciolli, a painter, printmaker and sculptor whose work focuses on the human figure, will open with a reception at 5 p.m. Friday, May 18, at 171 Broadmead St. The exhibition is sponsored by the Princeton University League.

Maurer Productions Onstage will take audiences back to a time when beautiful music, colorful costumes and screwball comedy were the height of entertainment with the “The Drowsy Chaperone” at Mercer County Community College’s Kelsey Theatre. Dates and times for this Tony Award-winning show are: Fridays, June 8 and 15 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, June 9 and 16 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, June 10 and 17 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on MCCC's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on June 8.
The Board of Trustees of Princeton Pro Musica (PPM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ryan James Brandau as its new artistic director, effective with the 2012-2013 season. Dr. Brandau was selected after a rigorous 12-month international search to replace retiring artistic director and founder Frances Fowler Slade. The Board voted unanimously and enthusiastically to confirm Dr. Brandau’s appointment.
This popular jazz ensemble returns to the library to perform a concert of music by Dave Brubeck, along with original compositions. Pianist and composer Mintel, who founded the group in 1993, is known as a top interpreter of Brubeck’s music. The quartet released the critically acclaimed album “50 Years After…A Tribute to Dave Brubeck” in 2010.

Singer and pianist Fred Miller presents a Lecture in Song Saturday, May 19 at 3 p.m. in the Community Room of Princeton Public Library.
Miller, a favorite with library audiences, returns to present another in his series of programs examining American pop standards. This program focuses on lyricist, composer, pop singer and recording executive Johnny Mercer, whose many hits include “That Old Black Magic,” “Fools Rush In,” One for My Baby,” and “I Remember You.”
Featured poets Maxine Susman and Jessica de Koninck read for 20 minutes each followed by an open mic session when Princeton Public Library hosts Poetry in the Library Monday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Susman’s poems appear in Paterson Literary Review, US 1 Worksheets and many other journals. She has taught writing and literature at Rutgers, Seton Hall and Caldwell College.
De Koninck’s poems appear in a variety of journals and anthologies including the Valparaiso Poetry Review, Paterson Literary Review, US 1 Worksheets and others.
Westminster Conservatory Noontime Recital Series Closes Season with Trio Brillante on Thursday, May 17
The 10th season of the noontime series Westminster Conservatory at Nassau will close with a performance by Trio Brillante on Thursday, May 17 at 12:15 p.m. in Niles Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau Street in Princeton. Trio Brillante is composed of Westminster Conservatory faculty members Katherine McClure, flute; Melissa Bohl, oboe; and Esma Pasic-Filipovic, piano. Admission is free.
