On Wednesday, April 18 2012 at approximately 2:00 pm, Ofc. Craig Humble conducted a motor vehicle stop on a Mitsubishi Galant for a motor vehicle violation on Mercer St. During the course of the stop it was determined that the operator of the vehicle, Christian Castro-Pagan, had an outstanding warrant out of the Ewing Township Municipal Court for his arrest . Mr. Castro-Pagan was subsequently taken into custody and was later released after posting bail.
On Thursday, April 12th, 2012 at approximately 7:47 PM, Ptl. Michael Strobel conducted a motor vehicle stop on State Road during which it was revealed that the driver, Juan Vargas, had active criminal and traffic warrants totaling $449.00 out of Jersey City, NJ. Ptl. Strobel placed Vargas under arrest and transported him to the Princeton Township Police Department, where he was processed and subsequently turned over to the Jersey City Police Department. Vargas was issued motor vehicle summonses for Unclear Plates and Failure to Inspect.
On Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 11:40 PM, Ptlm. King was traveling on Alexander Street when he observed the above vehicle drive off of the road and impact upon both a tree and a traffic sign. The driver admitted to falling asleep while driving. An odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected and the driver subsequently failed a standardized field sobriety test. He was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was later released from custody to a friend.
On Monday, February 20, 2012 at approximately 11:35 pm Princeton Township Police responded to the area of Leigh Ave. and Race St. to investigate a report of a disturbance in the area. Upon arrival patrols located the victim, whose name is being withheld at this time, who reported that two black males had approached him and asked for a cigarette. The victim indicated that he had none and continued on his way, at which time the two individuals approached him from behind and began punching and kicking the victim.
On Wednesday, February 15th, 2012 at approximately 9:19 PM, Robert Carter Jr. walked into the Princeton Township Police Department to post bail for an outstanding active ATS warrant. The warrant was issued out of Trenton, NJ for $506.00. Carter was processed by Ptl. Mike Strobel on the warrant, and Trenton Police Department was contacted and subsequently authorized Carter to be released on his own recognizance. Carter was released without incident and was advised of a pending court date in Trenton.
Feb 1, 2012 - Victim reported the theft of several items of clothing, his cell phone, and wallet which contained $90 in cash from an unlocked vehicle parked at a construction site on Weyl Lane. The items were removed sometime between 8am and 1pm. The total value of the stolen items was $370.
Two new police officers were sworn in at the Township Committee meeting on Monday.
Craig Humble, from Columbus NJ, graduated from King's College with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology, and graduated from the Burlington County Police Academy. Craig just married this past fall and lives in Springfield.
Chris Boller graduated from the Trenton Police Academy in 2005 with academic honors, and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Thomas Edison. He lives in Raritan Township.
On Saturday, 01/21/12 at 1:34am, while on patrol, Cpl. Montague observed two suspicious vehicles in the parking lot at Farmview Fields park in Princeton. Three occupants were found in one vehicle and a strong odor of Marijuana was detected. Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of suspected Marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Princeton Township Police Department, where he was processed and subsequently released.
On Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at approximately 2:51 pm, Princeton Township Police responded along with the Montgomery Twp. Emergency Medical Services (Mutual Aid) to the intersection of Mount Lucas Road and Redding Circle on a report of a bicyclist that had been struck by a car.
On January 1, 2012 at 12:51 AM, Cpl. Matt Solovay conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 206 near Hutchinson Dr. The driver of the vehicle, Joli R. Thullen, was found to have active warrants from multiple jurisdictions totaling $878.00. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. She was later turned over to Lawrence Twp. Police Department after she was unable to post bail.
