On Wednesday, February 15th, 2012 at approximately 9:19 PM, Robert Carter Jr. walked into the Princeton Township Police Department to post bail for an outstanding active ATS warrant. The warrant was issued out of Trenton, NJ for $506.00. Carter was processed by Ptl. Mike Strobel on the warrant, and Trenton Police Department was contacted and subsequently authorized Carter to be released on his own recognizance. Carter was released without incident and was advised of a pending court date in Trenton.
On Wednesday, February 15th, 2012 at approximately 8:10 PM, patrols attempted to serve a criminal warrant at a residence on Leigh Avenue. Ptl. Strobel was met by an occupant of the residence, Jarvis Sykes, who had two active ATS warrants. Sykes had an outstanding traffic warrant out of Trenton, NJ for $616.00 and an additional outstanding traffic warrant out of Asbury, NJ for $500.00. Sykes was placed under arrest by Ptl. Strobel and was transported to the Princeton Township Police Department for processing. Sykes was released on his own recognizance by both jurisdictions and was subsequently released with pending court dates.
On Tuesday February 14, 2012 at approximately 6:08 PM, patrols were dispatched to the intersection of North Harrison Street and Valley Road for a report of a motor vehicle accident in which a pedestrian was struck. Upon patrols arrival they observed the pedestrian, Rachel Benoit, laying in the middle of the roadway. It was determined that Ms. Benoit had crossed North Harrison Street in the crosswalk, however she did not activate the crosswalk signal by pushing the button. Ms. Benoit proceeded into the roadway where she was struck by a vehicle that was turning left onto North Harrison Street from the Princeton Shopping Center. Ms. Benoit suffered a cut to the head as well as scrapes and bruises to both knees. Ms. Benoit was transported to the University Medical Center at Princeton to be treated for her injuries.
On Tuesday, February 14 2012 at approximately 1:40 pm patrols observed a black Chevrolet SUV traveling northbound on South Harrison Street with a broken windshield. The vehicle was stopped in the parking lot of the Princeton Shopping Center and during the course of the stop it was revealed that the owner/driver of the vehicle, Jermaine Clark, was wanted on an outstanding traffic warrant from Trenton, NJ. Clark was taken into custody, processed and later released on his own recognizance at the request of Trenton Municipal Court. Clark was also issued a motor vehicle summons for the broken windshield.
On Saturday, February 11th, 2012 at approximately 12:34 AM, Princeton Township Police were dispatched to 870 State Road, the Rocky Hill Exxon gas station, for an unknown dispute. The investigation revealed that two black males, both wearing ski masks, had entered the convenience store and unlawfully removed a pack of cigarettes before leaving the store. The two actors then returned to the store and physically assaulted an employee of Rocky Hill Exxon. The employee was offered medical assistance, however declined any medical treatment. The investigation is on-going at this time and anyone with any information should contact Det. On February 10 at 10:46am, While on patrol Sgt. JoAnne Malta observed a 1995 Ford pickup being operated without working brakes lights. The vehicle was stopped and a subsequent check of the driver, Jose P Gonzalez of Trenton, revealed an active warrant out of Paterson NJ for $150.00. Mr. Gonzalez was arrested and transported to the police station for processing where he posted bail and was released pending a court date.
