"Can all schools be saved? If not, what then?"

Event Dates: March 9, 2012 - 11:00am - 3:00pm

Location

Robertson Hall, Princeton University Princeton, NJ

What is the best way to deal with a struggling school? Various restructure plans include closing schools, changing administrations, creating smaller schools within schools, or converting traditional public schools into charters. These approaches all have long range impacts on students, teachers and communities.

This conference will present research and policy about the best ways to deal with an unsuccessful school, considering the many practical issues that must be considered in order to ensure positive outcomes and mitigate negative effects.

The format for the event will be presentation and discussion. Experts will each give a 30 minute overview of compelling research and experiences from the field that is shaping the school turnaround debate.  The second panel will consist of stakeholders asking questions about this overview in order to help New Jersey move forward in its reform initiatives.  The goal of this format is to have the Stakeholder panel shape the discussion about how the research and other school reform practices should and will affect decisions that New Jersey must make as it considers school turnover measures.

This event is free, but by invitation only and requires registration.
