D&R Greenway Land Trust

One of New Jersey’s most highly reputed non-profits, D&R Greenway Land Trust increasingly fulfills its mission to preserve and protect natural lands, farm lands, and open spaces throughout central and southern New Jersey.   The organization has preserved 23 square miles of open space in its 22 years, with a new emphasis on raising, tending, planting and selling native species for Princeton home gardens as well as their preserves.  Trails are created and maintained on properties, facilitating interaction with the world of nature for children and adults.  Its 1900 barn, the Johnson Education Center, welcomes individuals and groups as rental space for groups with allied missions, regularly offering programs, lectures and art exhibits featuring the natural world, to urge its preservation.  www.drgreenway.org

  • Volunteer Stewardship Opportunities at St. Michaels Farm Preserve (Environment)

    The St. Michaels Farm Preserve is a historic farm property of nearly 400 acres, located at the edge of Hopewell Borough between Princeton Avenue and Aunt Molly Road. Its sweeping scenic vista takes in almost exclusively agricultural land and forest, and features views of the Sourland Mountains to the north and the Princeton Ridge to the south.

  • Green Acres 50th Anniversary Celebration (Environment)

    The land preservation community gathered at D&R Greenway's circa-1900 barn
    on Thursday, October 20th to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the New
    Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Green Acres Program. People
    traveled from across the Garden State to acknowledge, in the words of
    Congressman Rush Holt, "the great work of the Green Acres Program staff."

    The event was coordinated by D&R Greenway Land Trust, the New Jersey
    Conservation Foundation, and the Keep it Green Coalition.

  • Native Seed Pilot Project (Environment)

    On Tuesday, June 21, D&R Greenway Land Trust, in partnership with forty volunteers from Bristol-Myers Squibb, launched its Bulk Native Seed Production Pilot Project, at a public ceremony on Hopewell Township's St. Michaels Farm Preserve.
