Icy Conditions Close Schools, Plague Transport

A transformer exploded in front of the Nassau Inn this morning, prompting the temporary evacuation of some guests.  Nassau Inn operations are back to normal as of 11:20 am, but Palmer Square East Street is blocked by repair trucks.

Below is the listing of ice-related delays and closures, earlier today:

• As of 6:57am, there's a Downed tree on US 206 southbound at South of CR 604/Elm Rd in Princeton Twp. Right lane closed.  **CLEARED**
• As of 8:33am, there's Flooding on US 1 southbound area of Scudders Mill Rd in Plainsboro Twp.  Right lane closed.
• Princeton Regional Schools are closed today because of bad travel conditions
• Princeton Township Municipal Offices are on a two hour delay. Offices will open at 11:00am.
• Princeton Public Library will open at 11 a.m. due to the inclement weather
• Princeton University delays opening for non-critical staff until 10 a.m.; classes held as scheduled
• NJ Transit Northeast Corridor service being restored as of 9:14 a.m. with departures from Trenton and New York.  Service will operate once an hour. Northeast Corridor eastbound (inbound) trains are bypassing Princeton Junction and Hamilton station due to downed tree blocking inbound track. Jersey Avenue Station will remain closed today, Wednesday, February 2.  Jersey Avenue customers should use New Brunswick Station instead. **NORTHEAST CORRIDOR SERVICE NEAR NORMAL SCHEDULE BY 3:30PM**
• As of 7:04am, Princeton Shuttle (Dinky) service is suspended due to power problems.
• Arts Council:  Morning classes for today, Wednesday, February 2, 2011, are CANCELLED. Most ACP classes after 4pm and the Circle of Sawdust event at 7 pm tonight will take place as scheduled.
• The YWCA Princeton will be closed on Wednesday February 2, 2011 due to the inclement weather. All programs have been cancelled including Princeton and Montgomery School Before and After School Programs.
• YMCA:  CDC closed.  Facilities open 10am.  Programs 10am start.
• Hun, Stuart, PDS, Chapin are closed
• Montessori School delays opening to 10:30am
• Westminster Choir College and Rider University will delay opening until 10 a.m., at which time University offices will open. Classes on both campuses will begin at 10:20 a.m. today.
