“It is deeply troubling that a year after yet another mass shooting by a mentally ill person with a semi-automatic weapon, which killed six and seriously injured Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, nothing has been done about preventing further such tragedies. If the Fix Gun Checks legislation championed by Mayors Against Illegal Guns were law, the Columbine, Virginia Tech, and Tucson shootings would have been prevented. It’s time for all people of faith and of good will to join together to break the stranglehold of the NRA and pass sensible gun violence prevention measures to prevent the mentally ill and others from so easily getting high powered guns,” said the Rev. Robert Moore, CFPA Executive Director.
