Mercer County Seizes Control of Princeton Township Police

On Friday, Oct 1, Township Police Chief Mark V. Emann and two officers were relieved of their duties while the Internal Affairs Unit of the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office conducts a criminal investigation into the alleged sale of township owned “properties”.  So far no criminal charges have been filed against Emann and two colleagues, Lt. Michael Henderson and Cpl. Arthur Villaruz.  Casey DeBlasio, of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, explained that administrative charges refer to possible violation of administrative policies, not laws.  She also clarified that the “properties” in question were “moveable”, but offered no further details.

Day to day operations of the township police are now under the supervision and management of Chief William Straniero of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s office.

The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office Press release is available here.
