I Virtuosi del Seicento, a faculty ensemble from Westminster Conservatory, will present a program of 17th- century music on original instruments Thursday, January 19 at 12:15 p.m. in Niles Chapel at Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton. Admission is free.
The performers will be Timothy Urban and Mark Johnstone. Urban will sing and play both recorders and sackbut, which is a precursor of the modern trombone. Johnstone will perform on the theorbo, a bass lute. The program is entitled Amarilli, mia bella: the Art of Embellishment, and it includes music of Caccini, Nauwak, van Eyck, Ortiz, dalla Casa, and several anonymous composers.
