Several major roads were still closed as of 9 o'clock this morning, after last night's strong winds brought down trees and power lines around Princeton.
The Princeton Township Police Department is urging drivers to respect the Detour signs, orange cones, and road closure tapes that have gone up overnight, as PSE&G crews struggle to restore service in various parts of town.

Road closures prompted Princeton University to delay opening for non-critical staff to 10am this morning.
More details, from a police report issued at 9:25am:
"On the evening of Thursday June 9 2011 a series of severe storms passed through Princeton Township causing widespread damage. The first calls were received by the Township Police at approximately 7:40 pm reporting wires and trees down blocking Cherry Valley Rd. between Great/Province Line. Two transformer fires were reported, one in the 300 block of State Rd. (Rt. 206 north) and the other at Rt. 206/Hutchinson Rd. The roadway was closed in both instances and traffic was detoured onto adjacent roadways where possible. Trees and wires were reported down on Mercer St., Crestview Rd., Dempsey Ave., Riverside Dr., Terhune Rd., Rt. 206, Quaker Rd., and Cherry Hill Rd."
