Transition Task Force Chooses Subcommittees, Enlists CGR

At their second meeting held on Wednesday, February 8, the consolidation task force plowed ahead toward the goal of consolidation by enlisting Joe Stefko, Director of Public Finance for Committee of Governmental Research (CGR) to determine CGR’s role and cost if they were hired. Other groundwork included forming subcommittees.

The first motion for the task force involved voting that CGR have a project proposal ready by the next meeting.

The transition to a single Princeton gets underway

On Tuesday, January 31st, the transition task force held a kickoff meeting that laid the groundwork to help bring Princeton one step closer to consolidation.

The meeting started with members of the team introducing themselves. The team is comprised of elected officials as well as six Princeton residents, three from the Borough and three from the Township, with a fourth resident from each municipality serving as alternate.

At last night’s Borough Council meeting, Anne Waldron Neumann of the public citizens’ group Save the Dinky described Councilwomen Jenny Crumiller and Jo Butler as “heroines” for their stance against Princeton University’s plans to move the Dinky station.  That didn’t prevent the rest of the Borough Council from voting “Yes” on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) drawn up earlier this week between the Township, Borough, and University

It's official:  Rush Holt beat back a challenge from Republican Scott Sipprelle and wins another term as representative from  the 12th Congressional District.

In the local Princeton races, all the incumbent Democrats were returned to their seats.  Liz Lempert and Lance Liverman were re-elected to the Township Committee, while Jo Butler joins incumbent Roger Martindell in the Borough Council.

On Oct 4 and Oct 11, Princeton Community TV will broadcast two live forums featuring candidates in the upcoming Borough and Township Council elections.  The question and answer sessions will be moderated by the League of Women Voters.

Incumbent Roger Martindell and Jo Butler will be the Democratic candidates for Princeton Borough Council election in November.

The Princeton Borough Clerk's office confirms the final tally in Tuesday's primary to be Martindell (546), Butler (422) and Anne Waldron Neumann (397).

On the Township committee, incumbents Liz Lempert and Lance Liverman ran unopposed.

In the Republican 12th District primary, Princeton Borough counted 123 votes for Scott Sipprelle, and 15 for David Corsi.

The makeup of the Princeton Borough Council will most likely be determined by tomorrow’s primaries, when Princeton Democrats will be asked to choose two out of three candidates.  No Republicans filed to run for the all-Democratic Council. 

Incumbent Roger Martindell is up for re-election, and the other seat will be vacated by Council President Andrew Koontz, who will be running for Mercer County freeholder.
