Richard Woodbridge, former Township mayor and former Borough Councilman, is running for mayor of consolidated Princeton.  He says that what the municipality needs most during this period of transition is “experience, experience, experience.”

Woodbridge has the unique background of having served on the elected governments of both Princeton Township and Princeton Borough.  He also grew up in Princeton, went through the public school system, and graduated from Princeton University.

   Westminster Conservatory’s Kaleidoscope Chamber Series will present “I Remember,” a recital in recognition of Holocaust Remembrance Day, on Sunday, April 22 at 2:30 p.m. in Gill Memorial Chapel on the Lawrenceville campus of Rider University.  Admission is free.

Wheelchair rugby and basketball teams will take center court during the February 25, 2012, “Walk n’ Roll with Enable” at Rider University’s Student Recreation Center. This indoor walk will feature athletes with disabilities demonstrating their skills and challenging spectators in a fun competition to raise support for programs helping persons with disabilities live full and independent lives. Persons of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate in this fun-filled day of movement, entertainment and motivational speakers.

Westminster Conservatory’s Kaleidoscope Chamber Series will present the Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, Ruth Ochs, conductor, in a program entitled “Viva Italia” Sunday, February 5 at 2:30 p.m. in Gill Memorial Chapel on the Rider University campus in Lawrenceville.  The program represents four centuries of music from Italy and includes music by Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Boccherini, Rossini, and Respighi.  Admission is free.

Fans will have their first opportunity to pick up their Mrs G's Thunder Six Pack for the 2012 season and the public can attend for an opportunity to meet former Thunder pitcher Steve Garrison and enter to win prizes. The Rider University Chorale and the Rider University Choir will present their winter concert in Gill Memorial Chapel.  The program will feature the Rider University Choir, conducted by Philip Orr, performing seasonal works that include an arrangement of the Sephardic folk song Durme, Durme, Michael Sample’s arrangement of Canion de Los Tsachilas, and Philip Orr’s Creator of the Stars of Night and O Lux Beatissima.  The Rider University Chorale, conducted by Sun Min Lee, will perform excerpts from Handel’s Messiah.

The Rider University Art Gallery will present the first in its series of Gallery Concerts featuring faculty members from Westminster Conservatory, the community music school of Rider University’s Westminster College of the Arts.  Danielle Sinclair, soprano; Denise Mihalik, mezzo-soprano and Kathy Shanklin, piano, will perform a wide variety of traditional and contemporary Christmas songs arranged for two voices, including Gloria Laudamus te, There is no Rose, In Dulci Jubilo and Deck the Halls.

Olen Kalkus, founding headmaster of Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart, will present the lecture, "Gender and Learning," on November 17th at 7pm at the Lawrence branch of the Mercer County Library System. Mr. Kalkus will share research on gender differences in brain development in children and how it relates to education.

The Rider University Chorale, conducted by Sun Min Lee, will open its 2011-2012 season with a concert entitled “Make Our Garden Grow” as part of Rider’s Family Weekend.  The concert will take place on Saturday, November 5 at 2 p.m. in Gill Memorial Chapel, which is located on the Rider University campus in Lawrenceville, N.J.

The Rider University Art Gallery will present an exhibit by painter George Nick, entitled “The Upside Down Wind” Thursday, November 3 through Sunday, December 11, 2011.

An opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, November 3 from 5 to 7 p.m.  Gallery Director Harry I. Naar will lead an artist’s talk on Thursday, November 17 at 7 p.m.  Admission is free.

Four groups of students from Mercer County schools will compete in a fridge painting contest at Mrs. G TV & Appliances to benefit Susan G. Komen of Central and South Jersey. Using a theme to bring attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, students will use symbols like the color pink and the pink awareness ribbon to create a design on retired refrigerators.

Mrs. G TV & Appliances calls on all young artists in grades 6 through 12 to show their talent in the “Paint Our Fridge Pink” refrigerator decorating contest to support breast cancer awareness. The top 3 artists will be invited to the Mrs. G showroom in Lawrenceville to paint their designs on retired refrigerators and meet renowned graffiti artist and Jersey Fresh Jam founder Leon Rainbow. A public online voting will determine the Grand Prize winner who will receive a $150 savings bond and free attendance to one of Leon Rainbow’s graffiti courses. Mrs.

A local student filmmaker goes back to his homeland to film wildlife in the Korean DMZ

While most rising juniors spend the summers alternately relaxing and worrying about the upcoming school year, Jeong Woo Ha, a student at the Lawrenceville School, chose to spend his summer in Korea, making a documentary about the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).  His film, entitled “The Unexpected Gift” was recently shown in the Princeton Student Film and Video Festival, held at the Princeton Public Library this summer.

The Mercer County Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is pleased to announce the kick-off of their annual educational fundraising luncheon event entitled, Handbags, Hats, and Hope, to be held on Sunday, May 15th, 2011 from 1 pm- 4 pm at Jasna Polana in Princeton, New Jersey.

The Handbags, Hats, and Hope annual fundraising event will be hosted by celebrity comedian, Derrick Fox former host of the Apollo Theatre Comedy Hour and will feature Handbag Bingo, a high end fashion hat show, special prizes, and a fine dining for all attendees.
