At 164 years old, the fire company at 363 Witherspoon Street is technically the youngest of the three that comprise the Princeton Fire Department.

There have been a number of major changes to tax laws, and the Internal Revenue Service wants you to know about them.  How do those changes affect small business in New Jersey?  Todd Cresci, a stakeholder liaison at the IRS, will speak about major changes in tax law and regulation affecting small business, changes in  IRS outreach methods, and the impact of those changes on New Jersey businesses.  He will also discuss small business health care coverage, provisions of the Affordable Care Act, self-employment tax changes, and several other topics related to tax law change

Downed branches and power lines snarl local traffic

(3:40pm update:  Mercer Street and Quaker Road are open.  Most of 206 still closed.  Be prepared for aggravated rush-hour delays.)

Several major roads were still closed as of 9 o'clock this morning, after last night's strong winds brought down trees and power lines around Princeton.

The Princeton Township Police Department is urging drivers to respect the Detour signs, orange cones, and road closure tapes that have gone up overnight, as PSE&G crews struggle to restore service in various parts of town.

 If you judge a public school by its SAT scores, Princeton High School ranked highest in the state last year.  Does that mean Princeton has the best teachers?

A Task Force report unveiled last month by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie recommends making student test performance an important criterion in teacher evaluation. While that would reflect well on Princeton teachers, it runs counter to the approach adopted by Princeton Regional Schools. Princeton Charter School, on the other hand, has expressed measured support for Christie’s reforms.

The Woodrow Wilson School will host a panel discussion titled, "Purple Hearts – Back from Iraq and Homeland" at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16 in Bowl 016, Robertson Hall. Panelists will include Chaplain (Major) Paul Berghaus at the United States Military Academy, West Point; Nina Berman, documentary photographer; Lt. Commander Kevin Cady, MPP candidate at the Woodrow Wilson School; and Lt. Colonel John Stark, a Professor of Military Science and Director of Princeton University’s ROTC program.

Since your values define your character and shape your goals in life, you may want to take into account matters of personal importance, such as honor codes or animal rights, as part of your college search.

A recent article in the New York Times (July 5, 2010), described the use of cameras and technology at the University of Central Florida to deter cheating during examinations.  According to the article, schools like Washington & Lee University oppose such measures because it presumes guilt and undermines the trust between professors and students.
