Bill Bradley, former U.S. Senator from New Jersey, will open his national tour for his new book, "We Can All Do Better," with a public lecture on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at 4:30 p.m. in McCosh Hall, Room 50, on the Princeton University campus. The address, sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School, is free and open to the public. A book sale and signing will immediately follow the talk.

Presented by the Arts Council of Princeton and the students of Princeton University, the event originated as “The Art People’s Party” on the lawn of Nassau Hall in 1970. Later renamed Communiversity to capture the Town-Gown spirit of the event, the popular arts festival has grown to attract more than 40,000 visitors to Princeton, NJ each spring.

The author, whose grandparents survived the sinking of the Titanic 100 years ago this month, discusses “Starboard at Midnight,” her book about their lives.

Between 5 and 8 PM on March 1st, art organizations on campus and around town present the first Princeton ArtWalk, a self-guided evening of drop-in art related activities in downtown Princeton.
Scheduled to take place on a quarterly basis, the Princeton ArtWalk will include programming at the Princeton University Art Museum, the Arts Council of Princeton, the Bernstein Gallery, Woodrow Wilson School, Firestone Library, the Lewis Center for the Arts, Historic Morven, the Princeton Historical Society, the Princeton Public Library, Small World Coffee, and Labyrinth Books.

Erica Lehrer, poet, and Dr. Sam Wang, Associate Professor of Molecular Biology and Neuroscience at Princeton University, will be on hand to introduce and read from Lehrer’s collection of poems, Dancing with Ataxia. Profits from the sale of Dancing with Ataxia will be donated to Princeton’s Neuroscience Institute and towards medical research via the National Ataxia Foundation.

Drawing inspiration from one of the Museum's most beloved works of art--Sir Edward Burne-Jones' beautiful stained-glass panel, Saint Cecilia--and celebrating the upcoming exhibition Princeton and the Gothic Revival: 1870-1930, the Art Museum invites you to join us for an evening of dinner and dancing in support of the Museum's education and outreach programming.

Princeton Senior Resource Center will host a lecture on Medieval Alabaster Sculpture on Wednesday February 1, at 10:30am, in the Suzanne Patterson Building, 45 Stockton Street.

Helen Schwartz has prepared a lecture on the current exhibit at Princeton University Art Museum.  The exhibit, “Object of Devotion: Medieval English Alabaster Sculpture”, will be on display through February 12th.  Come hear about these wonderful pieces while there is still time to visit the exhibit.
 

Emerge! A Global Bazaar is a market fair that unites cultural and development initiatives at Princeton University to showcase their work and sell artisan crafts from over 20 countries on Dec. 11 from 1-4 pm in Chancellor Green, East Pyne on the Princeton University campus.

Adam Galinsky, a 1999 Princeton graduate alumnus and a professor of ethics and decision in management at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, will present, "Achieving the Entrepreneurial Dream: The Six Steps of Effective Negotiations," at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec.

Actor, comedian and author Steve Martin will deliver a talk about his early career as a comedian, titled "Stand Up: My Rise and Collapse," at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, in McCosh Hall, Room 50. Free tickets are required for admission. Tickets will be available for Princeton students, faculty and staff beginning at noon Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the University Ticketing Office in the Frist Campus Center. Members of the general public may obtain tickets from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Richardson Auditorium box office in Alexander Hall.

The McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning is set to host a discussion about the disconnect between faculty and students’ expectations of a college education with Marcia Cantarella, the author of the recently published book, “I CAN Finish College: The Overcome Any Obstacle and Get Your Degree Guide.”

This compelling documentary tells the story of Abdul Rahman, an African prince who was sold into slavery in the American South in 1788. The Best Documentary winner at the 2007 Black Film Festival is based on the biography written by Terry Alford and explores the global nature of slavery and the role and identity of Muslims in early America.

Alford will be present for the screening and will introduce the film. Keynote speaker Kwame Anthony Appiah of Princeton University will give commentary and lead a question and answer session. Refreshments will be served.

Adjudicated by William Hobbs, Director of Opera, Westminster Choir College of Rider University, Princeton voice students will be competing on Friday, December 9, to perform with members of the Princeton University Orchestra on January 14, 2012. The competition is in Taplin Auditorium in Fine Hall and will will start at 4:00PM and run until approximately 7:00PM. It is free and open to the public.

Princeton alumnus Hobart Earle '83 will conduct the Princeton University Orchestra on Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10 in Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall.

The Rider University Chorale and the Rider University Choir will present their winter concert in Gill Memorial Chapel.  The program will feature the Rider University Choir, conducted by Philip Orr, performing seasonal works that include an arrangement of the Sephardic folk song Durme, Durme, Michael Sample’s arrangement of Canion de Los Tsachilas, and Philip Orr’s Creator of the Stars of Night and O Lux Beatissima.  The Rider University Chorale, conducted by Sun Min Lee, will perform excerpts from Handel’s Messiah.

Tom Brokaw, broadcast journalist, author and special correspondent for NBC News, will present a public lecture titled, “The Time of Our Lives.” A book sale and signing of Brokaw’s new book, “The Time of Our Lives: A Conversation About America; Who We Are, Where We've Been, and Where We Need to Go Now, to Recapture the American Dream” (2011, Random House) will take place immediately after the discussion.

The Westminster Chapel Choir of Westminster Choir College, conducted by Amanda Quist, will present a concert entitled "Spiritual Journey" on Saturday, November 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Richardson Auditorium, which is located in Alexander Hall on the Princeton University campus.  Admission is free.

The Rider University Chorale, conducted by Sun Min Lee, will open its 2011-2012 season with a concert entitled “Make Our Garden Grow” as part of Rider’s Family Weekend.  The concert will take place on Saturday, November 5 at 2 p.m. in Gill Memorial Chapel, which is located on the Rider University campus in Lawrenceville, N.J.

The Glee Clubs of Princeton and Yale universities will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall.

Steve Coll, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and president of the New America Foundation, will speak as part of the "Reporting South Asia" seminar series at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in Burr Hall, Room 219.
