Those votive candles around town bring a message of domestic peace

Strolling through Princeton at night in the coming weeks, people may be wondering about the lovely luminaries lining the sidewalks and paths in Palmer Square, on Princeton University campus, along the Princeton Township building and other areas of Princeton. The lights are part of the Womanspace Communities of Light campaign to express solidarity with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

In a town hall meeting with Princeton Township Mayor Chad Goerner and Princeton Borough Council member Kevin Wilkes, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie congratulated the two Princetons on the recent vote in favor of consolidation.

“We have to start not just talking about challenging the status quo, but actually challenging it,” Christie said, calling the Princetons an example for the rest of the state.

With the addition of Princeton and South Brunswick, two historically Democratic voting blocs, into the Republican-dominated 16th district, candidates for the New Jersey State Legislature found themselves discussing new issues at Tuesday’s forum in Princeton Township’s Municipal Court.

On Saturday, October 29 2011, the Princeton Township Police will be participating in the nation- wide prescription drug turn-in, known as “Operation Take Back New Jersey”.
From 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, Princeton residents can come to the drop-off location in the lobby of the Princeton Township Police Headquarters at 1 Valley Rd. and turn in unused, unwanted and expired prescription and over the counter drugs with no questions asked.

A forum over consolidation, hosted last night by the Princeton Community Democratic Organization (PCDO), launched with a look at what makes this year's proposal different from previous attempts at bringing the Borough and Township together.

Shortly after 3pm this afternoon, a car crashed into the exit doors at McCaffrey's supermarket in the Princeton Shopping Center.

The Princeton Township Police Department reports that the driver,  David Isaacs of Hillsborough, had to be extricated from the car by the Rescue Squad.  He was taken to the Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The League of Women Voters presents a Candidates Forum for the 16th Legislative District.
The six candidates for the newly realigned 16th legislative district will participate in a forum.

 

Republican and Democratic candidates for the New Jersey State Legislature's 16th  District will debate and answer questions from the audience at a public forum. Princeton and South Brunswick are new to the 16th  District and to its incumbents and their challengers.

The Princeton Township Police Department Youth Academy is a program designed to provide its participants with firsthand knowledge of the duties and responsibilities that are required of a Princeton Township Police Officer. The Academy will involve classroom activities, hands on techniques, and police demonstrations.

1. Landfill solar project - Status Report
2. Consolidation study - Final Report
3. Community Park Pool Bid Award
Formal action may be taken.

Borough and Township to decide in July whether to put consolidation to a vote

After a long, arduous process of discussion and edits by Princeton Borough and Township officials, the issue of consolidation is one step closer to being on the ballot. A Wednesday evening meeting hammered out the details of a final recommendation to the governing bodies by the Consolidation Commission.  On July 25th, another joint meeting at Princeton Township Hall will discuss whether to put the consolidation question to a vote in November.
