May 21, 2012

On Wednesday, May 23 beginning at 8:30 am, the Princeton Township Police Dept., Princeton Borough Police Dept., Princeton Fire Dept., Princeton First Aid Squad and Corner House will be assisting the Princeton High School PTO and the Princeton Regional Schools with their semi-annual fatal DWI crash re-enactment, designed to bring attention to the perils and consequences of drinking and driving.

April 19, 2012

On Wednesday, April 18 2012 at approximately 2:00 pm, Ofc. Craig Humble conducted a motor vehicle stop on a Mitsubishi Galant for a motor vehicle violation on Mercer St. During the course of the stop it was determined that the operator of the vehicle, Christian Castro-Pagan, had an outstanding warrant out of the Ewing Township Municipal Court for his arrest . Mr. Castro-Pagan was subsequently taken into custody and was later released after posting bail.

April 15, 2012

On Thursday, April 12th, 2012 at approximately 7:47 PM, Ptl. Michael Strobel conducted a motor vehicle stop on State Road during which it was revealed that the driver, Juan Vargas, had active criminal and traffic warrants totaling $449.00 out of Jersey City, NJ. Ptl. Strobel placed Vargas under arrest and transported him to the Princeton Township Police Department, where he was processed and subsequently turned over to the Jersey City Police Department. Vargas was issued motor vehicle summonses for Unclear Plates and Failure to Inspect.

April 3, 2012

On Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 11:40 PM, Ptlm. King was traveling on Alexander Street when he observed the above vehicle drive off of the road and impact upon both a tree and a traffic sign. The driver admitted to falling asleep while driving. An odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected and the driver subsequently failed a standardized field sobriety test. He was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was later released from custody to a friend.

February 21, 2012

On Monday, February 20, 2012 at approximately 11:35 pm Princeton Township Police responded to the area of Leigh Ave. and Race St. to investigate a report of a disturbance in the area. Upon arrival patrols located the victim, whose name is being withheld at this time, who reported that two black males had approached him and asked for a cigarette. The victim indicated that he had none and continued on his way, at which time the two individuals approached him from behind and began punching and kicking the victim.

Daniel Ellsberg, who in 1971 precipitated a national political controversy when he released the top secret "Pentagon Papers" to the media, will participate in a conversation with Bart Gellman '82, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, author in residence and visiting lecturer in public and international affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School, titled, "Secrets, Lies, and Leaks: From the Pentagon Papers to Wikileaks." The event is co-sponsored by the Wilson School and the Princeton University Committee on Public Lectures. It is part of the School's "Media and Public Policy" thematic lecture series.

February 19, 2012

On Wednesday, February 15th, 2012 at approximately 9:19 PM, Robert Carter Jr. walked into the Princeton Township Police Department to post bail for an outstanding active ATS warrant. The warrant was issued out of Trenton, NJ for $506.00. Carter was processed by Ptl. Mike Strobel on the warrant, and Trenton Police Department was contacted and subsequently authorized Carter to be released on his own recognizance. Carter was released without incident and was advised of a pending court date in Trenton.

Robert L. Gordon III, MPA '89, the deputy assistant secretary of defense for military community and family policy, will present a public talk at the Woodrow Wilson School titled, "Military Force Planning and Decision-Making."

February 3, 2012

Feb 1, 2012 - Victim reported the theft of several items of clothing, his cell phone, and wallet which contained $90 in cash from an unlocked vehicle parked at a construction site on Weyl Lane. The items were removed sometime between 8am and 1pm. The total value of the stolen items was $370.

Two new police officers were sworn in at the Township Committee meeting on Monday.

Craig Humble, from Columbus NJ, graduated from King's College with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology, and graduated from the Burlington County Police Academy.   Craig just married this past fall and lives in Springfield.

Chris Boller graduated from the Trenton Police Academy in 2005 with academic honors, and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Thomas Edison.  He lives in Raritan Township.

January 23, 2012

On Saturday, 01/21/12 at 1:34am, while on patrol, Cpl. Montague observed two suspicious vehicles in the parking lot at Farmview Fields park in Princeton. Three occupants were found in one vehicle and a strong odor of Marijuana was detected. Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of suspected Marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Princeton Township Police Department, where he was processed and subsequently released.

January 14, 2012

On Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at approximately 2:51 pm, Princeton Township Police responded along with the Montgomery Twp. Emergency Medical Services (Mutual Aid) to the intersection of Mount Lucas Road and Redding Circle on a report of a bicyclist that had been struck by a car.

January 3, 2012

On January 1, 2012 at 12:51 AM, Cpl. Matt Solovay conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 206 near Hutchinson Dr. The driver of the vehicle, Joli R. Thullen, was found to have active warrants from multiple jurisdictions totaling $878.00. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. She was later turned over to Lawrence Twp. Police Department after she was unable to post bail.

December 28, 2011

Princeton Township Police are investigating three residential burglaries that occurred between Thursday, December 22 and Saturday, December 24, 2011, all in the first block of Maidenhead Rd. In all three instances, forced entry was made to the victims' homes and the actors removed jewelry and electronics. The total amount of the theft is undetermined at this time, and it is believed that the three incidents are related.

On Thursday, December 22 2011 at 5:33 pm, The Princeton Township Police Department responded to a report of a bank robbery in progress at TD Bank, 883 State Rd.

Upon arrival the staff at the bank advised that the lone actor had left prior to police arrival on foot in an unknown direction. The actor is described as an Hispanic or light skinned black male with freckles, approx. 5'9", 170 lbs and wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt, white t-shirt, black NY Yankees hat, blue jeans and black sneakers.

December 19, 2011

12/18 - While running stationary radar on Route 206 near Cherry Hill Road, Sgt. Geoff Maurer stopped a vehicle for speeding at approximately 2:16 am. The driver, Pedro Maisonet 3rd, was found to have a suspended drivers license and two warrants from West Windsor and Trenton for his arrest totalling $1,637.
Maisonet was placed under arrest, processed, and released on his own recognizance after new court dates were set for the two warrants. In addition, Maisonet was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended and speeding.

December 8, 2011

On Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at approximately 8:10 am, Princeton Township Police and the Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad responded to the 300 block of State Rd. on a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries. The police investigation at the scene revealed that vehicle #1 was traveling north on State Road when driver #1 apparently failed to observe traffic stopped in the lane of travel for a school bus that was loading a student. Driver #1 applied his brakes but his vehicle slid on the wet surface and struck vehicle #2. The school bus was not involved in the crash.

Mercer County, along with Mercer County Community College, is sponsoring a course starting in February 2012 on personal emergency preparedness training that has been scheduled and is in the college’s Continuing Studies Noncredit Course catalog that is being mailed out this week to residents in Mercer County.

December 1, 2011

On 11/30/2011 at 11:36PM, Princeton Township Police and the Princeton First Aid Squad responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Mercer Road near Quaker Rd. Upon patrol arrival, three vehicles were located in the soutbound lane of Mercer Road on the Stonybrook Bridge. The three drivers were outside of their cars and two of them complained of back pain. Princeton First Aid and Rescue arrived on scene and transported Driver #3, Juan Rodriguez, Jr., to the hospital. All vehicles were damaged, and the Honda and the Mazda were both towed from the scene by Kovi Towing.

November 18, 2011

On Thursday, November 17 2011 at 1:50 pm, Princeton Township Police, the Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad and the Princeton Fire Dept. responded to Rt. 206 just north of Ewing St. on a report of a one car motor vehicle crash with injuries. The driver, Ellen Shepardson of Skillman, was traveling north when her vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a utility pole adjacent to the roadway. As a result of the impact the utility pole was snapped in half and the attached wires were brought down into the roadway.

November 14, 2011

On Saturday, November 12 2011, patrols responded to the 200 block of Bullock Drive on report of a Burglary/Theft to a residence. Upon arrival Ptl. Frank Pinelli observed a screen missing from the caller's home and apparent prymarks near the window. Upon checking the home and making it secure it was clear that unknown person(s) had gained entry through the window and ransacked the residence stealing various pieces of jewelry as well as electronic equipement. Upon patrols canvassing the area two nearby units were also observed with pry marks, missing screens and/or open doors.

October 24, 2011

On Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 at approximately 11:24 PM, Ptl. Michael Strobel conducted a motor vehicle stop which resulted in a traffic warrant arrest for the driver, Kathleen Daniele. Daniele had one active traffic warrant for $164.00 out of Robbinsville, NJ. Daniele was placed under arrest by Ptl. Strobel and transported to the Princeton Township Police Department for processing. Daniele was able to post bail and subsequently released pending a new court date.

October 21, 2011

The Department of Public Safety is alerting community members of an ongoing investigation concerning a reported incident of lewdness that occurred earlier this evening in an area near the University campus. West Windsor and Princeton Township Police were notified.

October 20, 2011

On Monday, October 17, 2011 at approximately 1:21 pm, Princeton Township Police responded along with the Princeton First Aid Squad to the intersection of N. Harrison St and Valley Rd on a report of a bicyclist that had been struck by a car. Upon arrival police conducted an investigation into the matter which revealed that the cyclist, Claude Pepino of Princeton, was on Valley Rd. and was crossing North Harrison St.when she was struck by a Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by Douglas Valdez of Morrisville, PA. Valdez was turning left out of Princeton Shopping Center at the time of the collision.
