Featured poets Maxine Susman and Jessica de Koninck read for 20 minutes each followed by an open mic session when Princeton Public Library hosts Poetry in the Library Monday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m.
 
Susman’s poems appear in Paterson Literary Review, US 1 Worksheets and many other journals. She has taught writing and literature at Rutgers, Seton Hall and Caldwell College.
 
De Koninck’s poems appear in a variety of journals and anthologies including the Valparaiso Poetry Review, Paterson Literary Review, US 1 Worksheets and others.

Presented by the Arts Council of Princeton and the students of Princeton University, the event originated as “The Art People’s Party” on the lawn of Nassau Hall in 1970. Later renamed Communiversity to capture the Town-Gown spirit of the event, the popular arts festival has grown to attract more than 40,000 visitors to Princeton, NJ each spring.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will host a public lecture on environmentally friendly practices at Mercer County Community College’s West Windsor campus on Wednesday, April 25, at noon in the Communications Building, room 109. The talk is part of the college’s Distinguished Lecture Series.

West Windsor, NJ: Rutgers University Art Professor Judith Brodsky will discuss the contemporary art world at Mercer County Community College on Tuesday, April 17, at noon in the Communications Building, Room 110. The talk, entitled, “My Life in Art,” is the fourth in the college's Spring 2012 Distinguished Lecture Series, and will be held at the college’s West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Professor Brodsky is an artist, printmaker and arts advocate. In her talk, she will draw from her own experience as an artist as well as from her projects as a curator and activist.

The 2012 Princeton Colloquium on Public and International Affairs will be held on Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14, 2012 in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall on the Princeton University campus. This year's Colloquium, "The State of the States," will explore ways that states can use policy levers to improve the health, education, and well-being of the United States populace.

The Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination’s Program on Women in International Relations in cooperation with Princeton Against Sex Trafficking will convene a workshop on human trafficking March 30-31 on the Princeton University campus. The two day event will bring together policy makers, practitioners, activists, and academics to address the politics and economics of trafficking, the successes and limitations of on-the-ground interventions by NGOs, and ways to address the global problem of trafficking in the United States and abroad.

Three new paintings by acclaimed artist Mel Leipzig, professor of art and art history at Mercer County Community College, will be unveiled at a special event on Wednesday, March 14.

The college and Leipzig are co-hosting the free event at the Conference Center at Mercer from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. to help raise funds for a student art gallery planned at the Trenton campus on North Broad Street. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and the opportunity to meet the artist.

In what promises to be a "where is he going with this?" lecture titled, "My Life as a Toaster Oven," Bob Garfield, co-host of National Public Radio's "On the Media" and Ad Age columnist, will present a public talk at the Woodrow Wilson School. Garfield's talk is part of the School's "Media and Public Policy" thematic lecture series.

For 25 years, Garfield wrote the “AdReview” column in Advertising Age where he evaluated ads from hundreds of agencies worldwide. His new Ad Age column, “Listenomics,” explores the frontiers of 21st-century marketing and media.

“Keeping Politics out of Women’s Health” will be the topic of a public talk at the Woodrow Wilson School presented by Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, on Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Richards is visiting the Wilson School as part of its “Leadership and Governance Program,” which brings prominent policy makers to Princeton for a multi-day visit so that students can meet and learn from exemplary public leaders.

We’re bringing in LEGOS and giving you the green light for experiments in engineering and imagination. Sketch an idea or build a mechanism of your own. We’ll have our own Rube Goldberg machine, built by Princeton University Engineering students, that will flip, trip, roll, and drop its way to the “ultimate reading experience.”

Between 5 and 8 PM on March 1st, art organizations on campus and around town present the first Princeton ArtWalk, a self-guided evening of drop-in art related activities in downtown Princeton.
Scheduled to take place on a quarterly basis, the Princeton ArtWalk will include programming at the Princeton University Art Museum, the Arts Council of Princeton, the Bernstein Gallery, Woodrow Wilson School, Firestone Library, the Lewis Center for the Arts, Historic Morven, the Princeton Historical Society, the Princeton Public Library, Small World Coffee, and Labyrinth Books.

John Lewis Gaddis, who has been deemed the "dean of Cold War historians" by The New York Times, will hold a conversation with Bart Gellman '82, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Washington Post correspondent, and visiting lecturer in public and international affairs on Gaddis' new biographical book, "George F. Kennan: An American Life." A book sale and signing will take place immediately after the discussion, although books may be purchased prior to the lecture.

Richard Murphy, former U.S. Ambassador to Syria, will participate in an “Up to the Minute” panel discussion speaking on the latest developments in Syria. Ambassador Murphy will be joined in the discussion by Marwa Daoudy, visiting lecturer in international affairs and visiting research scholar at the Wilson School, and Karam Nachar, a graduate student in history and specialist on Syria. The discussion will be moderated by Daniel Kurtzer, lecturer and the S. Daniel Abraham Professor in Middle Eastern Policy Studies at the Wilson School, and former U.S. Ambassador to Israel and Egypt.

Join in a djembe orchestra play together to create complex polyrhythmic music. Great class for dancers too! Please bring a djembe. Some drums are available to borrow. When registering, indicate if you need a drum. Open to all levels of experience.
