Another attempt to persuade the University not to move the Dinky

Princeton University attorneys threatened legal action against the Borough, if the Council were to pass an ordinance that specifies that the area around the Dinky train station - known as Lot 39 - can only be developed for transit purposes or retail related to transit.

More patient privacy, bigger ER and ORs, and a huge lobby distinguish the new hospital building

The new University Medical Center of Princeton currently expects to open on May 22, 2012 with some significant changes in patient care, including an enlarged emergency department with individual rooms; medical services re-organized around a “portals of care” concept; de-centralized nursing stations; and a more environmentally friendly design in its new Plainsboro location.

Rezoning Ordinance is formally introduced for public discussion

Princeton Borough residents are one step closer to walking down a rejuvenated Alexander Road in twenty years, after the Borough Council agreed to formally introduce for public discussion the zoning for the Arts, Education and Transit Neighborhood at a meeting on Tuesday night.

Princeton author outlines world view

Having been a student of philosophy way back when, I was drawn to the title of G. John Ikenberry’s newly published book Liberal Leviathan: The Origins, Crisis, and Transformation of the American World Order, with its echo of the great 17th century English philosopher Thomas Hobbes.  So I was among the fifty or so local residents who turned up to hear Ikenberry discuss his prescription for the future at Labyrinth Books on Wednesday, April 13.

An overview of Poetry Month activities in and around Princeton.

April is National Poetry Month and in Princeton this means a new issue of U.S.1 Worksheets, the (now) annual poetry journal of U.S.1 Poets’ Cooperative.  Last Sunday, April 3, the community room of the Princeton Public Library was packed to capacity, as poets gathered to celebrate the arrival of Volume 56 of U.S.1 Worksheets, featuring the work of 98 local and regional poets.

Princeton University will abandon plans to locate a proposed Arts and Transit Neighborhood at the Dinky Station,  after failing to gain the approval of the Township and Borough at a joint meeting Monday night. Princeton University Vice-President Bob Durkee said that instead, the university will begin working on designs for the arts complex in locations that would not need zoning approval.

Chad Goerner has been confirmed as the new Mayor of Princeton Township, replacing outgoing Mayor Bernie Miller.  Sunday’s annual reorganization meeting also confirmed Sue Nemeth as Deputy Mayor, the position vacated by Mr. Goerner.
